For six years, Craig worked for the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of North Carolina. As an Assistant United States Attorney, he was responsible for conducting criminal investigations and prosecuting cases in federal court.

Craig handled cases involving armed robberies, bank robberies, firearms offenses, firearms trafficking and straw purchasing, drug trafficking, drug conspiracies, money laundering, communicating interstate threats, cyberstalking, and assaults on federal officers. As the district’s National Security / Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council Coordinator for two years, he was responsible for investigating violations of federal crimes involving national security, domestic violent extremism, domestic terrorism, and energy facility and infrastructure attacks.

Craig tried jury trials and handled motions, sentencing hearings, and supervised release violation hearings in the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina and has written numerous appellate briefs and argued cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

His legal experience also includes work as a state prosecutor for North Carolina. As an Assistant District Attorney for six years, he tried dozens of jury trials in Superior Court, including serious felony cases, assaults, robberies, and first-degree murder cases. Craig prosecuted cases involving all types of felony and misdemeanor offenses with emphasis on violent crimes, drug offenses, domestic violence, child abuse, and murders.

Prior to attending law school, Craig obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science from Duke University and a master’s degree in United States history from the University at Albany. He worked as a research assistant for a D.C.-based think tank in the areas of healthcare policy and foreign policy, as a property analyst for a commercial real estate information technology company, and as a salesperson and merchandising manager for a small business.

During law school, he volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem, serving as an advocate for children. As an Albert Schweitzer fellow, he worked as a Guardian ad Litem for children in foster care who had severe physical or mental disabilities or required specialized medical care or educational services.

Craig grew up in New York but has called North Carolina home for over 23 years. His wife is from Kernersville, NC and they met and started dating as freshmen at Duke. He lives in Greensboro, NC with his wife, son, and rescue dog Fiona. He is involved as a volunteer leader with his son’s Cub Scout Pack. He enjoys hiking, fishing, and biking with his family, visiting historical sites and art museums, and playing guitar.
